My Life Drawing Set-Up
I’m trying to put back life drawing sessions into my weekly routine. I’ve been digging up my old anatomy reference books. My favorite ones were always the George B. Bridgman books. Especially the one called “Constructive Anatomy”. Full of great tips on “how” the different body parts interact with each other. Amazing.
So, for today, I thought I’d share my basic set-up when I go to life drawing. For a while, I was just using Sharpie on Newsprint but I decided to go back to basics recently. Basics for me means using a Conte Stick and holding it more like a paintbrush than a pencil, allowing to draw more from the shoulder than from the wrist. It makes it easier to draw boldly, with more confidence, and it just creates a better “flow” to my drawings. It’s also possible to draw and shade using the same tool. Priceless.
I hope you enjoy it.
"hey billy what have you been up to lately"
"literally nothing relevant or useful"
I WOULDN’T HAVE EVEN REALIZED THAT THE ARMS WERE SOMETHING YOU ADDED IF I HADN’T READ YOUR TAGS
THEY LOOK SO GREAT WITH ARMS THOUGH
…This feels so uncanny.
Damn these are well done!!
If you get the joke, you had an amazing childhood.
Male Rabbit because I never draw male Rabbit and I needed some practice.
